BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team dominated the singles draw of the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Men's Tennis Regional, with
Tristan Bradley becoming the second Polar Bear to win the ITA Regional, joining Luke Trinka in 2013, defeating teammate
Reid Staples in the final.
Tournament Highlights
- Featuring 64 of the top singles players in the region, Bowdoin's Tristan Bradley and Reid Staples each racked up five straight wins to reach Sunday's final.
- Bradley, who entered the tournament seeded second, lost just one set in his first four matches to reach the semifinals. In the semis against Kandel of Williams College, Bradley won a hard-fought 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 triumph to advance to the finals against Staples.
- Staples didn't lose a set until the semifinal round, cruising to four straight wins after being seeded eighth in the bracket. He prevailed against Acaroglu of Tufts in a comeback 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 result to advance to play Bradley in the finals.
- In the title match, Bradley defeated Staples 6-0, 2-1 (ret., injury) to take the title.
- In the doubles tournament, Bowdoin's teams of Bradley/Staples, Geoffrey Golan/Andrew Mendelson and Ethan Bradley/Jack Flores all won first round matches before falling in the round of 16.
