BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's rugby team captured a 62-5 win over the University of Maine on Homecoming Saturday at Pickard Field. The Polar Bears move to 4-0 this year with the win.
 
Match Highlights

• Bowdoin outscored Maine 29-5 in the opening half and never looked back.  
• Scrum half Justine Endo-Ferguson opened the try with a pick and go from the base of the ruck for a 5-0 lead.
• After back and forth play at the midfield, Bowdoin scored again on a skilled passing play down the entire backline, with winger Liz Cayenne-McCall scoring in the corner, 10-0, but a quick comeback try by Maine brought the score to 10-5. 
• Rebecca Vakarau scored three minutes later to take a 15-5 lead.
• For the rest of the game Bowdoin's defense kept the a hard-running U.Maine team out of the try zone.  leading tacklers were Jorja Markella with eight and Ella Slaby and Evie Hamer with six apiece.
• Maggie Norton outstepped several defenders to score two more long tries in the first half and both were converted by Lauryn Eisenhart. Eisenhart added a try of her own just before the half.
• Vakarau opened the second half scoring from 35 meters out.  Eisenhart notched the conversion to make it 36-5. 
• Katie Stomma'26, Lulu Linkas'26 and Len Dodge'25 all scored a try with Eisenhart converting one, and Ella Slaby converting the final two kicks.

• Bowdoin is off next weekend but will return to action at New Haven on October 16.
