SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's rugby team succumbed to Navy in its season opener Saturday afternoon, 32-18. The Polar Bears fall to 0-1 on the season with the defeat.
 
Match Highlights

• The Polar Bears grabbed an early lead on a pair of Ellie Carter kicks to open the contest, and led 6-0 with 20 minutes to go in the opening half.
• Bowdoin maintained that lead until the end of period, when Navy scored a pair of Ryan O'Kane tries to take a 12-6 edge at the break.
• Navy opened the second half with another try, extending their lead to 17-6, but Bowdoin replied with a Malia McCollum try to cut the lead to 17-11 with under 30 minutes to go.
• The Midshipmen took control from there, however, scoring three more times, sandwiched around a Jess Vanston try, to make the final margin 32-18.
