Luke Wheeler scored 18 seconds into overtime to lift the Bowdoin men's ice hockey to a 3-2 victory against Connecticut College on Monday afternoon.
The Polar Bears climb to 3-4-2 (3-2-1 NESCAC) after playing their second straight overtime game of the weekend. The Camels fall to 1-5-0 (0-3-0 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- The teams played a scoreless first period, but both got on the board in the second.
- Connecticut College got the period going with a goal 3:41 into action. On the power play, Jake Hughes teed up a shot from the high slot and watched a rebound kick left. Jake Vaughan put tape to puck and found the far post.
- Ten minutes later, Bowdoin tied the game. Chris Brown took a breakout pass from Bobby Pearl and controlled at neutral ice. Brown fed a streaking Ean Small coming down the center, earning Small a one-on-goal. Small pulled left and beat the goalie right side.
- Bowdoin took its first lead of the game off another Small goal with just 5:34 remaining in the game. Coming out of the zone, Bowdoin developed a two-on-one, and Small wristed a shot from the left side into the net.
- Connecticut College tied the game with under three minutes remaining. Sean Detloff passed to Younghoon Choi in the left circle for a one-timer past Alex Kozic.
- Just 18 seconds into overtime, Wheeler provided the game-winner. Circling from the left side, Wheeler skated into the slot and put the puck away in the top left corner.
