Third-Ranked Men's Tennis Sweeps Skidmore

WHITTIER, Calif. – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team secured their second win in California on Tuesday evening as they dispatched Skidmore 9-0.

The Polar Bears (2-0) are ranked third in the nation while Skidmore is ranked 26th nationally.

Match Highlights

  • Bowdoin got started with a win at number three doubles from Justin Patel/Oscar Yang, 8-3, and then squeaked out a pair of big wins at number one and two, getting 8-7 victories from Grant Urken/Jerry Jiang and Larry Zhao/Justin Wang to take a commanding 3-0 advantage.
  • The Polar Bears put away the Thoroughbreds in singles play, earning five straight-set wins, including a 6-1, 6-2 win from Urken and 6-1, 6-0 victory from Jiang at the top two spots.
  • Yang, Patel and Alan Delman also collected straight-set wins while Wang completed the sweep with a 6-1, 5-7, 12-10 win at number four.
