Men's Tennis Nets Season-Opening Win Over Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team cruised to a season-opening 9-0 win at Chapman University on Sunday.

The third-ranked Polar Bears improve to 1-0 with their first dual match win of the 2019 campaign.

Match Highlights

  • Bowdoin took control with a sweep of doubles play, getting an 8-0 shutout win from Grant Urken/Jerry Jiang at #1, and 8-3 wins from Justin Wang/Larry Zhao and Justin Patel/Oscar Yang at the #2 and #3 positions.
  • The Polar Bears posted straight-set victories at all six singles spots with Urken posting a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the top spot.
  • Jiang, Yang, Wang, Justin Patel and Evan Fortier accounted for the other victories for Bowdoin as the Polar Bears didn't lose a set.
