Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team fell in the tenth inning to host Thomas College in a 6-5 Friday night final.
The Polar Bears (11-13) fell to the Terriers (4-24) after surrendering a tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning, allowing Thomas to extend the game.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin got on the board in the top of the first as Jack Wilhoite sent a two-run blast over the left field fence.
- The Polar Bears added another run in the fourth as Eric Mah singled down the left field line, plating Owen Gideon-Murphy from third.
- Thomas responded in the bottom half of the inning off a sacrifice fly to right.
- The Terriers went ahead 4-3 in the fifth off a three-run double to center by Hank Vinall.
- A Colby Joncas RBI single in the seventh tied the game and Connor Lee later came around to score on an error to regain the lead.
- Trailing 5-4, Thomas tied the game on a Bowdoin error in the ninth. Tristan Pena drove in the winning run in extra-innings, singling through the right side.
By the Numbers
- Peter O'Connell went 4.1 innings on the mound for Bowdoin, allowing five hits and three runs with a strikeout.
- Justin Schachter recorded one strikeout with two hits and a run in one inning of work. Ryan Dixon fanned a par of batters in 2.2 innings on the mound. Ryan Winn pitched 1.2 innings with three hits and as many strikeouts. Winn surrendered two runs.
- The Polar Bears combined for ten hits, four walks, and as many strikeouts at the plate.
- Brendan O'Neil went 2-for-4 and Mah was 2-for-5.
