WHITTIER, Calif. - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team remained perfect with a pair of wins on Friday in California.
The Polar Bears, who rose to number two in the latest ITA Division III poll, pulled out a close match with 12th-ranked Whitman, 5-4, before dispatching Skidmore 9-0.
Whitman Highlights
- Bowdoin took an early 3-0 lead in doubles action but scrambled for two singles wins to take a tight 5-4 overall victory in their closest final score of the season.
- Luke Tercek/Grant Urken captured a 9-8 decision at number one doubles while Kyle Wolfe/Jerry Jiang and GIl Roddy/Justin Patel took 8-4 wins.
- Bowdoin got a straight-set 6-3, 6-4 win from Kyle Wolfe at #3 singles and clinched it on a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 comeback win from Tercek at #2.
Skidmore Highlights
- Bowdoin didn't lose a set in the shutout win against the Thoroughbreds.
- Tercek/Urken (8-3), Wolfe/Jiang (8-3) and Roddy/Patel (8-2) cruised to doubles wins.
- Straight-set singles wins from Tercek, Wolfe, Jiang, Roddy, Patel and Justin Wang capped the day for the Polar Bears
