Women's Rugby Comes Up Just Short in Setback at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Bowdoin College women's rugby team suffered just their second setback of the season on Saturday, dropping at Division II top-ranked Vassar 39-33.

The Polar Bears fall to 3-2 with the setback.

  • Bowdoin was constantly under pressure from the Vassar forwards but managed to carry a 21-20 lead into halftime.
  • Sophia Karris scored for Bowdoin from 50 meters out after a hard-fought win for the ball.
  • Molly Petronzio added two tries on the afternoon, one coming off a cross field kick from Liz D'Angelo and another after a long succession of passes.  
  • Great support play led to tries from Allegra Bersani and D'Angelo for the Polar Bears.
