Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine - In their first game played in Maine this season, the Bowdoin College baseball team suffered a 6-0 setback to the University of Southern Maine in a game played at Colby College on Wednesday evening.
The Polar Bears fall to 6-9 while the Huskies stand at 8-7.
Game Highlights
- USM scored three times in the third and three times in the sixth to take the shutout victory.
- A run-scoring single by Matt Bender, followed by a sac fly from Dylan Hapworth and RBI single from Andrew Hillier accounted for the Huskies' runs in the third frame.
- USM pieced together three more runs in the sixth on a wild pitch, a fielder's choice and a sac fly to double their lead.
- Bowdoin's best chance to mount a rally came in the sixth, when the first two batters reached base. Relief pitcher Alex Tobey worked out of the jam, however, getting a fly out and two strikeouts to squelch the comeback.

- USM's Tyler Leavitt went 5.0 innings, scattering four hits and striking out five to earn the victory.
- Bowdoin used ten pitchers in the nine-inning game, with Colby Lewis taking the loss due to the three-run third by the Huskies.
- Nick Sadler and Evann Dumont-LaPointe had two hits each for the Polar Bears in the setback.
