Middlebury Edges Bowdoin in Men's Tennis Title Rematch

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Middlebury College men's tennis team edged Bowdoin, 6-3, in a battle of two of the nation's top-ranked teams on Saturday afternoon.

The top-ranked Panthers move to 15-1 (5-0 NESCAC) while the fourth-ranked Polar Bears fall to 11-2 (3-1 NESCAC).

Match Highlights

  • Middlebury claimed two of three doubles matches to take an early lead, with Bowdoin's #2 pairing of Kyle Wolfe/Jerry Jiang earning the lone Polar Bear point with a 8-5 win.
  • In singles play, the Polar Bears received wins from Grant Urken (6-4, 6-4) and Gil Roddy (6-4, 6-4)
  • Middlebury was able to claim the win thanks to a pair of victories in three-setters at #1 against Luke Tercek (6-2, 2-6, 6-2) and at #6 against Luke Carstens (6-2, 4-6, 6-2).
