Men's Tennis Holds Off Judges In Home Opener

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team held off Brandeis in its home-opening match of the spring on Friday evening, 6-3, at Maine Pines Raquet Center.

The third-ranked Polar Bears improve to 9-1 overall with the victory.

Match Highlights

  • The Polar Bears got the first point on the scoreboard with an 8-5 win from Jerry Jiang/Kyle Wolfe at #2 doubles but had to battle in the other two doubles matches against the Judges.
  • Justin Patel/Gil Roddy came away with a key 9-8 (8-6) win at #3 doubles in a tiebreak to give the Polar Bears a 2-1 edge heading to singles.
  • In singles play, Bowdoin received straight-set wins from Luke Tercek, Grant Urken, Kyle Wolfe and Gil Roddy to clinch the victory.

  • Bowdoin's Saturday match vs. MIT was postponed due to poor travel conditions in New England. The Polar Bears' next scheduled match is next Saturday, April 8, at 14th-ranked Amherst.
