Box Score MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin field hockey team dropped its final regular season game of the year in a 3-0 decision at Tufts University on Wednesday night.
The Polar Bears enter the postseason with a 9-6 overall record and 5-5 mark in conference play. The Jumbos earned the number two seed in the NESCAC postseason with an 11-4 (8-2) record.
Game Highlights
- Tufts got on the board early with a goal just three minutes into play. Hanaa Malik sent a pass across the circle to Gigi Tutoni who knocked the ball out of the air and past Maddie Ferrucci for the 1-0 lead.
- With three minutes remaining in the first half, the Jumbos doubled their lead. Marguerite Salamone inserted the ball on a penalty corner before the ball eventually ended up on Erin Sanders' stick. Sanders fed Claire Trilling who fired a shot from the right side to give Tufts a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
- Seven minutes into the second half, Tufts scored the game's last goal. Celia Lewis put back a rebound on a corner bid that extended the host's lead.
- Bowdoin dominated possession in the second half but was unable to convert. Kara Finnerty had a shot turned away with a defensive save, as did Elizabeth Bennewitz.

- Bowdoin ended the game with a 19-11 edge in shots following a 16-4 advantage in the second half.
- The Polar Bears took six penalty corners, to Tufts four, all coming in the second half.
