Swimming & Diving Sweeps Trinity and Wesleyan at Home Dual Meet

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's and women's swimming and diving teams put together dominant performances to come away with decisive victories over Wesleyan and Trinity in a two-day dual meet.

On the women's side, the Polar Bears defeated Trinity 265-90 and Wesleyan by a 251-113 margin. The women won every single event during the meet except the 200 breaststroke, which had no Bowdoin swimmers competing.  On the men's side, Bowdoin handled Trinity by a 215-141 margin and Wesleyan by a 245-119 mark.

Women's Meet

  • Marshall Lowery swept the backstroke events, taking first in the 50 (27.87), 100 (58.89), and 200 (2:08.38).
  • Caroline Watt paced the distance freestyle events with top finishes in the 500 (5:22.93) and 1000 (11:10.48).
  • Mariah Rawding won both breaststroke events she entered at the 50 (31.49) and 100 (1:08.88) yard distances.
  • In the 50 fly, Sterling Dixon captured a top finish in 26.88 and turned around to take a 400 IM victory in 4:33.86.
  • Ally Fromson-Ho took home three first place finishes in the 100 IM (1:01.12), 100 fly (59.09), and the 200 fly (2:09.43).
  • Between Amanda Banasiak and Linnea Patterson, the Polar Bears swept the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle events. Banasiak captured first in the 50 (24.41) and 100 (54.79), while Patterson put away the competition with a 2:00.41 in the 200.
  • Bowdoin's relays were both successful in the meet. The 200 medley relay, comprised of Lowery, Rawding, Dixon, and Sophia Walker finished in 1:50.49. The 200 free relay turned in a 1:38.47 behind the efforts of Dixon, Rawding, Banasiak, and Walker.
  • Thea Kelsey bested the field I the 1-meter diving event, putting together a 242.65 point total. Christine Andersen captured the 3-meter title with 248.85. 

Men's Meet

  • Matt Netto swept the breaststroke events, taking first in the 50 (27.32), 100, (1:01.14), and 200 (2:17.36).
  • In the fly, Julian Abaldo had a pair of top finishes. Abaldo swam a 23.93 in the 50 and a 52.71 in the 100.
  • Karl Sarier topped the field in the IM events. The sophomore had a 53.73 in the 100 and 4:11.84 in the 400. Sarier also took first in the 100 free (46.47).
  • Bowdoin swept the relay events, beginning with a 1:37.28 in the 200 medley. Will Hutchinson, Netto, Abaldo, and Sarier combined for the win.
  • Abaldo, Hutchinson, Michael O'Neal, and Sarier came together for a 200 free relay win of 1:26.64.
  • Mitchell Ryan swept the diving events. Ryan scored 266.05 in the 1-meter and 298.75 in the 3-meter.
