BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team avenged a loss to Bates last spring with a decisive 8-1 victory on Wednesday evening at Pickard Tennis Courts.

The Polar Bears, ranked second in the latest ITA Division III poll, improve to 13-1 this spring with the victory. Bowdoin had lost a 6-3 decision at Bates last spring.

Match Highlights

• The Polar Bears built an early lead thanks to convincing wins at all three doubles spots
• Kyle Wolfe/Jerry Jiang won 8-2 at #2, as did Gil Roddy/Chase Savage at #3. Luke Tercek/Luke Trinka completed the sweep with an 8-4 win at #1
• In singles play, Bowdoin claimed wins at positions 2-6 to secure the win
• Straight-set winners included Kyle Wolfe at #2 (7-5, 6-2), Luke Trinka at #3 (6-2, 6-3), Gil Roddy at #5 (6-1, 6-2) and Grant Urken at #6 (7-5, 6-1)
