CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team dominated on their way to a 7-2 victory over the #2 team in Division III on Sunday, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, in a match played in California.
The Polar Bears, ranked 11th in the latest national poll, remain perfect on their spring trip, improving to 4-0. CMS, the defending national champs, fall to 12-2 this year.
Match Highlights
- The Polar Bears overwhelmed CMS in doubles play to take a commanding 3-0 advantage early
- Kyle Wolfe / Jerry Jiang took a dominating 8-2 win at #2 doubles before Chase Savage / Gil Roddy (8-4) and Luke Trinka/Luke Tercek closed out the session (8-6) with wins for Bowdoin
- Wolfe (6-3, 6-2), Gil Roddy (6-2, 6-3) and Grant Urken (6-4, 6-4) quickly clinched the win with singles victories for the Polar Bears
- Tercek rounded out the day with a hard-fought 7-6, 4-6, 10-2 win at number one singles for the Polar Bears
