Box Score 2 LAKE MYRTLE PARK, Fla. – The Bowdoin baseball team swept Dickinson in a Thursday doubleheader to remain perfect on the young season.
The Polar Bears (4-0) won the first game by a 10-5 margin. Dickinson (10-5) out-hit Bowdoin in game two, but fell in a 4-3 final.
Game One Highlights
- The Polar Bears scored ten runs off nine hits in game one against the Red Devils.
- Dickinson went up 1-0 in the bottom of the second off an RBI double from Stephen Sakowicz.
- Bowdoin responded in the top of the following inning as Chad Martin drove in a pair of runs off a single. Jack Wilhoite quickly followed with a two-run producing single.
- The Red Devils cut Bowdoin's lead to one in the bottom half of the inning. Ryan Dolan tripled to drive in a run and Matt Primavera popped a sacrifice fly to right allowing another runner to cross the plate.
- Chris Nadeau knocked an RBI single into play and cross the place on a fielding error two batters later.
- Stephen Girolamo and Peter Cimini contributed an RBI single each in the sixth. Martin pushed another run across the plate with a sacrifice fly to right, immediately followed by a Cimini run off another Dickinson error.
- Jon Chudacoff tagged a two out RBI single in the sixth and Ben Carter drove in a late run in the seventh, but the Red Devils were unable to close the gap.
- Brandon Lopez earned his first collegiate win on the mound, going six innings and allowing four hits and as many runs. Lopez struck out six and walked a pair.
Game Two Highlights
- Dickinson led 1-0 following a sacrifice fly by Rick Hopkins to left in the second inning.
- Bowdoin evened the game in the bottom of the fourth off a solo homerun from Cimini.
- Neither team scored again until the sixth as the Red Devils put a pair of runs on the board. Primavera hit a two-run double to regain the lead for Dickinson, only to see Bowdoin tag three RBI singles in the bottom of the inning.
- Sawyer Billings, Luke Cappellano, and Colby Joncas drove in the three runs for the Polar Bears to overcome the Red Devils lead and remain unbeaten on the season.
- Ben Osterholtz, Connor Rooney, Kyle Stanley, and Jacob Stein combined to allow 11 hits and three runs for the Polar Bears.
