NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team took an impressive 7-2 win over Wellesley in the opening round of the Walker Cup at College Squash Association Nationals on Friday.

The Polar Bears (11-9) advance to the semifinals of the Walker Cup where they will face rival Bates on Saturday.

Match Highlights

• Bowdoin took wins at the top five positions to help secure the win
• Alexa Horwitz (#3), Tully Ross (#4) and Natalie LaPlant (#9) all earned 3-0 sweeps to key the victory
• Sarah Nelson (#1), Torey Lee (#2) and Nicole Ampatey (#8) took 3-1 decisions to clinch it for the Polar Bears
• The most competitive match of the day was at #5, where Chloe Polikoff took a 3-2 (11-8, 11-4, 9-11, 11-13, 11-6) win
