Box Score MALDEN, Mass. – Peter Cronin made 43 saves for his fifth career shutout as the Bowdoin men's ice hockey team pinned a 4-0 defeat on Tufts in NESCAC action on Friday night in Massachusetts.
The Polar Bears collect their second conference victory of the season to improve to 5-4-0 (2-3-0 NESCAC). The Jumbos dropped to 5-2-1 and 3-1-1 in league play.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening minutes of play. Thomas Dunleavy buried a rebound in the slot off a shot by Spencer Antunez just 3:22 into the contest.
- At 11:51, Christian Capello shoveled in a centering pass from classmate Ronnie Lestan to make it 2-0.
- Cronin came up big for the Polar Bears in the second frame with several key saves to preserve the shutout. The junior made 15 saves in the period, including a glove save off a shot by Brian Brown who leads the Jumbos in scoring. Cronin also denied Matt Pugh after he picked the puck off a Bowdoin defenseman to the left of the net,
- The Polar Bears scored twice in the first three minutes of the third period to secure the win. Austin Ricci netted the first just 1:02 into the frame and Dunleavy put away his second of the game on a power play at 2:41.

- Tufts held a slim 43-42 shot advantage, with Cronin turning away all 43 shots to earn the shutout victory. Mason Pulde had 38 saves for the Jumbos.
- Bowdoin went 1-for-6 with the extra man, while Tufts was 0-for-3 on the power play.
- Joseph Lace paced the Bowdoin blueline with three blocked shots. Cody Todesco led the Polar Bears with 14 faceoff victories.
- The shutout is the first for Tufts since last January, when the Jumbos lost 4-0 to Williams,
