DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The UMass-Dartmouth men's basketball team used a late 12-2 run to pull away from Bowdoin to win the Hampton Inn Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, 93-84.

The Corsairs improve to 2-1 this season while Bowdoin drops to 1-1 overall.

Game Highlights

• Thanks to 19 first-half points from Jack Simonds, Bowdoin carried a 46-38 lead into halftime.
• David Reynolds notched 11 points in the opening twenty minutes, including a trio of three-pointers.
• UMD bounced back quickly out of the locker room, jumping out on a 9-3 run to close the gap to two points, 49-47.
• Bowdoin pushed their lead back to nine points, 59-50, before a 13-0 surge by the Corsairs, capped by a Tucker Bouchard three-pointer, gave the hosts a 63-59 lead with 10:34 to play.
• The teams traded buckets until the contest was tied at 67 with 7:06 remaining.
• The Corsairs took command with a 12-2 surge over the next three minutes, getting back-to-back three-pointers from Abi Akanni and Jon Robinson to take a 79-69 lead with 4:19 to play.
• UMass-Dartmouth hit 11 of 12 free throws down the stretch to clinch the win.

By The Numbers

• Jack Simonds finished with a game-high 29 points to earn All-Tournament honors for Bowdoin. 
• Tim Ahn had 13 points and nine assists for the Polar Bears while Hugh O'Neil scored 12 with five rebounds. David Reynolds finished with 11 points.
• UMass-Dartmouth had all five starters finish in double-digits, led by 18 from Chris Mendes.
• Both teams finished at 50.8% shooting for the game, but the hosts connected on 24-30 from the free throw line to just 13-15 for Bowdoin.
• The Corsairs also held a 39-24 edge in rebounding but only cashed in for 10 second-chance points compared to nine for the Polar Bears.
