BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin women's rugby team rebounded from a slow start to rally to defeat the University of Maine-Orono, 32-10, on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Pickard Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 5-1 this season with the victory.

Match Highlights

• Down by five points with 22 minutes gone in the first half, center Kendall Schutzer and flanker Paige Pfannenstiel ran a double give and go down field, setting up a ruck 10 meters from the goal line. A strong carry from Cristina Lima set up the next ruck for Liz D'Angelo to gather the loose ball and dive over the line to tie the score, 5-5.
• Ten minutes later, Meredith Outterson fed the ball from a ruck out to the backs.  Winger Madeleine Genereux was held up in a tackle but got the ball to Pfannenstiel, who broke over the line for a 10 - 5 lead at halftime. 
• Bowdoin's dominant scrums and rucking in the second half turned the ball over from U.Maine on several occasions. 
• Accurate throws from Sarah Wilson in Bowdoin's lineouts insured quality ball to Dankens to launch the attack. 
• Five minutes into the second half, Pfannenstiel scored off a play down the right sideline; off a #8 pick up, Lima and wing Sierra Soghikian ran a give-and-go, offloading to Juliette Dankens who gained 20 meters.  Controlling the ruck, the pass went to Pfannenstiel who broke tackles and flew into the try zone for her second of three tries on the day. 
• Fullback Georgia Bolduc made key, try-saving tackles in the backfield.
• Liz D'Angelo notched three points on a penalty kick, while Schutzer scored two conversion kicks and a try of her own in the second half.
• Bowdoin's eight seniors finish with a cumulative regular-season record of 28 - 2 over the last four years (Georgia Bolduc, Catherine Craighill, Sam Hoegle, Cristina Lima, Meredith Outterson, Paige Pfannenstiel, Sarah Wilson and Pamela Zabala)
