BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey used a three goal opening period to cruise towards a 4-1 final over visiting University of Southern Maine on Tuesday evening.
The Polar Bears extend their win streak to four and climb to 8-7-3. The Huskies fall to 5-13-1 on the season.
Game Highlights
- Mitch Barrington started the scoring for Bowdoin 3:37 into the opening period, capitalizing on a 5-on-3 power play. Matthew Lison and Chris Wallace worked the puck with Barrington in triangle on the left side, ending with a slapshot from above the faceoff circle.
- Matt Rubinoff doubled Bowdoin's lead just under ten minutes into the period, burying a top shelf shot off a Wallace rebound on the right.
- Lison scored 16 seconds later to extend Bowdoin's lead to 3-0, shoveling the puck past Kyle Shapiro, while both were sprawled on the ice.
- Southern Maine cut into the Polar Bears' lead just a minute later. Jimmy Currier skated down the right side boards and took a shot on goal that deflected off the glove of Peter Cronin towards the opposite post. Patrick Magliano tracked the loose puck and put it away.
- Parker Sanderson lined up a one-timer on the move from a crossing pass to the right side, only to see the Peter Cronin absorb the shot late in the final period.
- Lison tallied his second of the game with under a minute to play. The sophomore collected the puck off the left side boards and skated into Southern Maine territory and deposited the puck in an empty net to secure a 4-1 win for Bowdoin.
