BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team defeated Mount Holyoke 8-1 in a a rare mid-week afternoon match on Wednesday at the Lubin Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 5-5 this season with the victory. Bowdoin is ranked 17th in the latest national poll while the 27th-ranked Lyons fall to 3-4 with the loss.

Match Highlights

• Bowdoin got seven 3-0 sweeps to cruise to the victory on Wednesday afternoon
• Sarah Nelson, Torey Lee, Alexa Horwitz, Tully Ross and Chloe Polikoff each earned shutout wins at the top five positions for the Polar Bears
• Zoe Wood grabbed a 3-1 win at number seven while Natalie LaPlant and Nicole Ampatey took 3-0 sweeps at eight and nine for Bowdoin

Weekly Award

• In weekly honors announced on Tuesday, Horwitz was named the Horrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week
• Horwitz was recognized for her five-game win against St. Lawrence last Friday that propelled Bowdoin to the eventual 5-4 triumph
