BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team swept Middlebury for a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon to close out the team's final home stand.

The Polar Bears are 16-18 after taking a pair of wins over the Panthers (4-22) in a non-conference matchup between two NESCAC East and West teams. Due to other results around the league, Bowdoin did not qualify for the NESCAC Tournament, finishing in third place in the NESCAC East Division.

Game One Recap – Bowdoin 3, Middlebury 2

The only runs of the series opener were scored in the first and last innings of the game, with the Polar Bears putting up three in the bottom of the first and the Panthers getting on the board with two in the seventh.

Chad Martin tripled to right center in the number three spot to drive in Aaron Rosen and Chris Cameron for the quick 2-0 lead. Marin eventually came around to score off an RBI by Sam Canales who chopped a ball to the first baseman.

Both pitchers dueled six innings on the mound for their respective teams. Erik Jacobsen allowed five hits and as many strikeouts for Bowdoin, matched by Robert Erikson who allowed three runs off three hits with five strikeouts.

Ryan Rizzo led off the top of the seventh with a long double to left field, moving to third on a groundout, and eventually scoring on a wild pitch. Trailing 3-1, the Panthers pushed another run across the plate as Dylan Sinnickson cleared the fence with solo shot. Jon Fraser induced a groundout on the following batter to end the inning and secure Bowdoin's win.

Again, Bowdoin held the Panthers scoreless until their final at bat in game two of the Saturday series. The Polar Bears got on the board in the bottom of the second off an RBI single to right from Tom Wells. Bowdoin added three more runs in the third, beginning with a Jacobsen single to center scoring Cameron. With the runner sitting at second, Aaron Rosen blasted a homerun to left field to put two more runs on the board.
