MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury advanced to the NCAA Men's Tennis Quarterfinals with a 5-3 win over Bowdoin in a regional final played at Middlebury College in Vermont.

The Panthers (20-3) advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 12th time in the last 13 years and will meet Trinity (Texas) on Monday, May 18th at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The Polar Bears finish an excellent season with a record of 15-6.

Middlebury jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. The Polar Bears grabbed their lone point at #3 when Noah Bragg and Kyle Wolfe recorded an 8-6 win over William de Quant and Chris Frost. Middlebury's Ari Smolyar and Noah Farrell evened things up when the duo topped Bowdoin's Kyle Wolstencroft and Gil Roddy in the #2 slot, 8-5. In the swing point at the top flight, the Panther duo of Peter Heidrich and Palmer Campbell tallied a 9-7 victory against Bowdoin's Luke Trinka and Luke Tercek.

In singles, the Polar Bears tied the match at 2-2 when Tercek earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at #4 over Jackson Frons. Following a few brief rain delays, the host Panthers grabbed a 3-2 lead when Smolyar picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win in the top spot over Trinka. In a back-and-forth match, Bowdoin's Gil Roddy squared the score at 3-3 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kyle Schlanger in the #6 slot.

The Panthers jumped ahead for good when Farrell notched a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the #2 slot over Bowdoin's Noah Bragg, while de Quant clinched the match for Middlebury at #5 via a hard-fought 6-3, 7-5 win against Wolstencroft.
