Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine – After suffering an extra-innings one-run loss to Husson in the opening game, Bowdoin's offense came alive in the second for an 11-5 win Tuesday evening.
Bowdoin's season record stands at 9-14 entering this weekend's three-game NESCAC series against Trinity. The Eagles improve to 18-12.
Game One Recap – Husson 1, Bowdoin 0
The Bowdoin pitching staff combined for eight straight shutout innings to begin game one. Michael Staes started the game, going three innings, while notching one strikeout and four hits. Max VogelMax Vogel-Freedman came in to record another three innings of work, fanning three with one hit allowed. The bullpen kept the Eagles off the board until Brandon Gendreau singled down the third baseline, driving in the walk off run. Dennis O'Neil went eight innings on the mound for Husson, delivering six K's with two walks. O'Neil allowed four hits.
Game Two Recap – Bowdoin 11, Husson 5
After being shutout in the opening game, Bowdoin wasted little time in putting runs on the board in game two. The Polar Bears scored three quick runs to begin the game, beginning with an RBI triple from Aaron Rosen. Rosen later scored on an Eagles error, and Chad Martin would put the Polar Bears up three as he came home on a wild pitch. Husson responded with three of their own in the bottom half, capitalizing on a pair of doubles and a single to right center.
Bowdoin put up seven more runs in the second and fourth innings to pull ahead 10-3. Sam Canales' triple to right field drove in Chris Nadeau and Rosen collected two more RBI with a single to left. The Polar Bears' bats continued to produce in the fourth as Erik Jacobsen drove home a run with a single to left field. Martin quickly followed with a two-run triple. Bjorn Hansen drove in Martin with a sacrifice fly. Husson answered with one run in the bottom of the fourth, but Bowdoin tacked on two more as Martin homered to left and Christian Corneil doubled down the line allowing Kyle Bishop to score.
Connor Rooney started on the mound for Bowdoin going three innings with three strikeouts and four hits before handing the ball over to Duncan Finigan and Kyle Stanely. Stanley recorded the save with 3.2 innings of work, allowing just two hits and one earned run.
