Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team opened the 2015 Bowdoin-Colby Classic by falling 6-3 to Endicott on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears (0-3-1) are still searching for the team's first win of the season. The Gulls used two goals in each period to improve to 5-1-2.
Game Highlights
- Thomas Daniels got the puck to Alexander Bonito behind the Bowdoin goal. Bonito pushed a pass out front that was backhanded in by Ross Olsson at 6:54 of the opening period.
- The Gulls scored again 50 seconds later off a turnover caused by Lloyd Hayes. Josh Bowes received the puck on the right side and tallied his fifth goal of the year.
- Endicott made it 3-0 just 1:07 into the second period. Daniels scored his second of the season off assists from Bonito and Olsson.
- Bowdoin tallied two goals in a 49 second span to close within one. Chris Wallace scored for the Polar Bears, quickly followed by Austin Ricci. Matt Sullivan won the face-off for Bowdoin and fed Ricci for the team's second.
- Gull defensemen Connor Costello pushed a pass over to Bowes on the left boards. Bowes immediately struck a hard pass across ice at the right of the goal to Cam Bleck who one-timed a high shot past Mark Schiller for a 4-2 margin with just 1:10 left in the second period.
- Sullivan picked up his second assist when he got the puck to Camil Blanchet on the right point. Blanchet's shot beat Gulls goalie Kevin Aldridge, to again pull within one.
- John Carricato (Ridge, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal at 6:36 and the Gulls rounded out the day with 8:34 left to play. Endicott scored the final goal when Olsson had a rush down the right boards and came toward the goal. His crossing pass found Hayes streaking down the middle and he knocked the puck in the net.
By the Numbers
- Aldridge had 12 of his 28 saves in the opening period for Endicott. Schiller had 13 saves in the first period and had 27 stops.
- Bowdoin went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Endicott was unable to convert on its only man-up opportunity.
