BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team dominated the University of Maine in a 67-0 decision Saturday in the opening round of the USA Rugby Division II Tournament.

With the win, the Polar Bears (8-0) advance to the Northeast Regional hosted at Vassar College against against Kutztown. More details on the regional will be available early next week.

How It Happened

• Scrumhalf Emily King sparked the Bowdoin offense, directing the attack and feeding the ball out to the backline for multiple trys.
• Piotti dominated in the lineouts thanks to her lifters and precise throws by Sarah Wilson.
• Prop/lock Elena Schaef, in close support of a multi-ruck phase, dove over the line to score her first try (of her career).
• Addison Carvajal scored 3 tries, one penalty kick (3) and two conversions. 
• Paige Pfannenstiel, Emily King and winger Georgia Bolduc each scored two tries apiece.
• Highlight try:  Paige Pfannenstiel fielded a kick off, passed to Elena Schaef and to Cristina Lima who dropped her head and powered up the right sideline for the score.
• Highlight try:  Carvajal, under pressure from Maine's backs, put up a long, wide kick to the ingoal area, which was chased down by Bolduc for one of her two tries.
• Highlight try:  Vianney Gomezgil Yaspik took a quick-tap penalty 5 meters out; from the base of the ruck, King moved the ball quickly to Piotti who fed first-year Liz D'Angelo, who was rewarded for her good positioning and pace with the score.
