Box Score MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin men's soccer team upset third-seeded Tufts in a 1-0 quarterfinal matchup on Saturday afternoon as the Polar Bears begin their bid to defend their 2014 NESCAC Championship crown.
Bowdoin (8-3-4) who ended the regular season sitting in sixth traveled to Tufts (9-4-3) for the second time in just three days. The two teams concluded their regular season schedules with a 0-0 draw on Wednesday afternoon.
How It Happened
- Tufts knocked on the door early with an open shot from Nathan Majumber at the top of the box challenging Stevie Van Siclen in the second minute of play.
- Bowdoin got on the board in the 25th minute as Nabil Odulate buried a close shot from the left side to give the Polar Bears the one goal lead. The play beginning with a corner kick that Ben Citrin relayed into the box where Patrick Kearon waited on the right post. Kearon found Odulate on the opposite side for the game-winner.
- Tufts played man-down for the majority of the second half following Nathan Majumder's second yellow card of the game, causing his ejection from the gameplay.
- Van Siclen ended the day with six saves to earn the shutout for Bowdoin. Scott Greenwood made one save in the second half for the Jumbos. Tufts outshot the Polar Bears by a 13-2 margin and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
