MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin men's soccer team saw its season come to an end with a 2-1 loss at Tufts in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.
The Polar Bears conclude the year as one of the top eight teams in the country and a 12-4-4 record. The Jumbos won the NESCAC Championship and advance to the Final Four with an 18-1-3
Game Highlights
- The Jumbos took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. Tufts lined up a corner kick from the left side and the ball rattled around in front. Ben Brown slid onto the right post to clean up the loose ball.
- Bowdoin found an equalizer right before halftime. Paul Surkov received the ball and drove toward the endline before turning and putting a pass to the top of the box. Felipe Rueda Duran timed his run perfectly and connected with a one-timer into the net, going bar down.
- Tufts regained the lead in the final 18 minutes. Mason Shultz arced a free kick from the right side of the midfield into the middle of the box. Alex Johnson came through the crowd and made contact to put the ball past Alex Ainsworth.
- Bowdoin controlled the final 15 minutes of play but could not force overtime.
