Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Bowdoin men's soccer team used a pair of quick consecutive second half goals to secure a spot in the conference post-season with a 2-1 win over Connecticut College on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (7-3-3, 3-3-3 NESCAC) secured a spot in the NESCAC playoffs a year after earning their first conference title by defeating the Camels (9-4-1, 4-4-1) on the road in New London.
How It Happened
- The Camels jumped out to a quick lead as Chris Lockwood put the hosts on the board in the eighth minute. Taking the feed from Matthew Bitchell, Lockwood hooked a shot inside the far post to go ahead 1-0.
- Bowdoin mustered three shots in the opening half, but was unable to find the net and only challenged Camels keeper Austin Dacunha once in the first 45 minutes.
- The Polar Bears scored twice within a minute and a half to take the lead midway through the second half.
- Andrew Jones buried a free kick in the 72nd minute, which Connor Keefe quickly followed with a shot of his own from 15 yards out a minute later.
- The Camels outshot Bowdoin by an 8-5 mark but only challenged goalie Stevie Van Siclen once in the second half. Dacunha made one first half stop.
