BRUNSWICK, Maine – Rachel Kennedy scored two goals in the first half and Kimmy Ganong added two more in the second as the Bowdoin field hockey team concluded its regular season home schedule with a 4-0 win against Husson University on Wednesday evening.
The top-ranked Polar Bears improve to 13-0 on the season, while dropping the Eagles to 6-8.
How It Happened
- Kennedy tipped in Bowdoin's first goal of the game 8:15 into the contest. All four of Bowdoin's goals were scored off of penalty corners, with Kennedy tallying the first as she deflected a drive from Kelsey Mullaney who teed up a shot at the top of the circle.
- Kennedy doubled the Polar Bears' lead five minutes later after the initial two shots from a corner were denied. The senior captain collected her own rebound off the pads of Anne Marie Provencal to find the back of the cage.
- Taylor Lovely tallied Husson's only shot of the first half, directing her shot on net and forcing keeper Clara Belitz to dive towards her right post to deny the bid.
- Ganong and Mullaney combined for identical goals within three minutes of each other in the second half. With Ganong inserting, Mullaney received the feed at the top of the circle and dished back to Ganong for a one-timer on the left post. The two goals were scored seven and ten minutes into the second half.
- Husson earned two corners in the second frame, but was unable to direct any shots on net and capitalize on the opportunity. The Eagles tallied a pair of shots in the half.
- Bowdoin outshot the Eagles by a 21-3 margin and held a 16-2 advantage in penalty corners. Provencal made 12 saves in a complete game performance. Belitz made one stop for the Polar Bears.
