Women's Swimming and Diving Sink WPI, Engineers Edge Polar Bear Men

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Bowdoin men's and women's swimming and diving teams split a dual meet at WPI on Saturday.

The women's team earned a 148-82 victory to improve to 2-1, while the men's team dropped a 123-103 decision and fell to 1-2 this winter.

The Polar Bear women dominated, claiming several first-place finishes. Katie Kronick won the 100 butterfly (1:00.59), Holly Rudel took the 100 backstroke (1:02.82) and Caroline Watt claimed the 500 freestyle (5:22.59). Sage Mikami won both the one-meter (212.24) and three-meter (233.10) diving competitions for the Polar Bears.

On the men's side, John Lagasse took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.82) while Tom Kramer claimed both the one-meter (272.62) and three-meter (308.63) diving events.

In the relay races, Bowdoin's 200 women's medley relay team (Linnea Patterson, Mariah Rawding, Mariah Reading, Sophia Walker) won in 1:53.60 while the 400 free relay team (Bridget Killian, Sophia Walker, Mariah Rawding, Teri Faller) took first in 3:43.21. The men's 400 free relay team (Will Hutchinson, Michael Given, Greg Koziol, Peter Deardorff) took first place in 3:19.77.

The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday with a meet at the University of Maine-Orono
