Baseball Closes Season With Sunday Loss at St. Joseph's

Box Score

STANDISH, Maine - The Bowdoin College baseball team closed out its season with a 2-0 loss Sunday to St. Joseph's College.

The Polar Bears conclude their season with a record of 18-16 while the Monks improve to 25-13.

Bowdoin took the loss despite a great pitching effort from Henry Van Zant, who allowed just six hits and no earned runs while striking out six batters. Lincoln Sanborn was outstanding for the Monks, striking out seven batters over seven innings of work to collect the victory.

St. Joseph's scored all the runs they would need in the fifth, plating two unearned runs. Lougie Vigars rapped a one-out double and came around to score on an error one batter later. Another error allowed Nic Lops to score and give the hosts a 2-0 advantage.

Bowdoin mounted a ninth-inning rally, putting runners on first and third with one out. But reliever Corey McNamara retired the final two batters to earn the save.

Sam Canales and Kyle LeBlanc had multi-hit days for the Polar Bears. LeBlanc had two doubles in the loss for Bowdoin.
