Box Score STANDISH, Maine - Shortstop Aaron Rosen went 4-5 with three runs, two doubles and a stolen base to lead the Bowdoin College baseball team to a 11-6 non-conference win over Saint Joseph's College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 12-6-1 while the Monks fall to 13-7.
Saint Joseph's held a 4-3 lead after three innings, but the Polar Bears managed to score three runs off three hits in the bottom of the fourth to take control of the contest. Bowdoin essentially put the game away with three additional runs off two hits and a costly SJC error on a double-play ball in the top of the sixth.
In addition to Rosen, Chad Martin went 2-5 with three runs, a double and three RBI, sophomore right fielder Peter Cimini was 2-4 with a pair of runs, a two-bagger and three RBI and junior second baseman Erik Jacobsen added three hits and a run in six trips in the victory.
Sophomore starting pitcher Michael Staes picked up the victory after allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits with a pair of K's while relievers Sam Herzig, David Zabinsky and Jon Fraser combined to toss three innings of no-hit ball and senior Kevin McDonough allowed two unearned runs off three hits in the ninth for the visitors.
Bowdoin is scheduled to open a two-day, three-game set with Colby College on Friday at 3:00 p.m. with the site to-be-determined.
