Baseball Falls to Hamilton in Weather-Delayed Outing

Box Score

LEESBURG, Fla. - The Bowdoin baseball team suffered just its second loss of the season in a rain-delayed game against Hamilton on Monday morning.

The Polar Bears (6-2) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Continentals as Hamilton picked up its first win of the season. The two teams were slated to play a second game, but were unable to continue due to weather.

Hamilton scored in both the fourth and fifth innings and held on to win as the shortstop threw out the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh to end the game. Bowdoin tallied its first run in the fifth, cutting Hamilton's lead to one, as a sacrifice fly from Joshua Ellis allowed Peter Cimini to score from third. Michael Staes pitched six innings for Bowdoin, striking out five and walking two.

The Polar Bears return to action on March 19 with a doubleheader against Keene State. The first of two games will begin at 10:00 a.m.
