Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Bowdoin College baseball team earned a soggy sweep of Colby Sawyer on Wednesday afternoon, taking a pair of convincing wins, 12-0 and 9-0.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-0 on the season and will return to action on Friday against New Jersey City in Winter Haven.
Bowdoin scored four times in the first inning and led 10-0 after three frames in cruising to the 12-0 victory in game one. Erik Jacobsen delivered a two-run double to spark the first inning rally. Chad Martin hammered a three-run home run in the second and Duncan Taylor rapped a two-run single in the third to key the big innings. Jacobsen, Taylor, Kyle LeBlanc and Sam Canales had two hits apiece. Jay Loughlin earned the win with five excellent frames, allowing one hit and striking out seven.
It was more of the same in the nightcap, as Bowdoin posted four-run innings in the second and third to cruise to victory. Cole DiRoberto had a hand in every Polar Bear rally, finishing 2-3 with three RBI. Canales had a pair of hits, as did Chad Martin and Peter Cimini. Michael Staes picked up the win on the mound, working five innings and permitting four hits while striking out three.
