Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine - Max Fenkell recorded 27 saves to post his third shutout of the season as the Bowdoin College men's ice hockey team cruised past Salve Regina, 8-0, on day two of the Bowdoin-Colby Faceoff Classic Sunday at Alfond Arena.
The Polar Bears remain unbeaten at 6-0-1 this season. Salve Regina drops to 3-4-2 with the loss.
Bowdoin skated to a 5-0 lead after one period and never looked back, getting a pair of first--period goals from Matthew Lison along with markers from Brendan Conroy, Matt Rubinoff and Cullen Geary. Tim Coffey and Daniel McMullan added second period scores for the Polar Bears. Matt Sullivan closed out the scoring with a third period goal for Bowdoin.
Jay Kourkoulis and Connor Quinn had two assists apiece in the victory.
Fenkell notched his third blank sheet in four outings with a 27- save performance. He was busiest in the second period, when he swept aside all 11 shots he faced.
Bowdoin will return to action on Friday as they travel to Connecticut College for a 7:00 p.m. face-off.
