Men's Tennis Splits Weekend Matches Against Brandeis and Amherst

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team earned a split in weekend action against a pair of Massachusetts schools.

The Polar Bears cruised to an 8-1 win over Brandeis in a home match Saturday before falling on the road to Amherst, 6-3, on Sunday. Bowdoin stands at 10-3 overall this season.

Bowdoin was able to take a 2-1 lead on Saturday after doubles play against Brandeis with Samuel King and Noah Bragg earning a 8-1 win at #2 and Luke Trinka and Chase Savage claiming a 8-4 victory at #3. The Polar Bears earned a clean sweep in singles action, led by wins from Bragg (7-5, 1-6, 12-10) and Casey Grindon (6-3, 6-3) at the top two spots. King (6-4, 6-1), Chris Lord (6-0, 6-0), Kyle Wolstencroft (6-0, 6-2) and Savage (3-6, 6-2, 10-7) collected the other singles points down the ladder for Bowdoin.

The Polar Bears garnered one point in doubles action against Amherst, courtesy of Savage and Trinka at #3 (8-6). Savage also claimed a singles point at #6 (6-3, 6-4) for Bowdoin while Wolstencroft accounted for the other singles win, earning a 7-5, 2-6, 10-3 win at #5 for the Polar Bears.

Bowdoin will return to action on Wednesday evening with a 6:30 p.m. match at Bates.
