Men's Tennis Rallies Again To Win Nationally-Ranked Duel With Case Western

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team rallied again to take a victory over Case Western Reserve in a battle of top-ten squads on Tuesday.

The fifth-ranked Polar Bears (3-0) won four of six singles matches to rally from a 3-1 deficit and take a 5-4 win over seventh-ranked Case (12-3).

Bowdoin trailed 2-1 after doubles play with their lone point coming from #1 doubles pairing Kyle Wolstencroft and Doug Caplan. The Polar Bears lost the first singles match to fall into a 3-1 hole with five matches remaining.

But the Polar Bears came through thanks to straight-set wins by their #2-5 positions. Casey Grindon (6-1, 6-4), Sam King (6-4, 6-4), Chris Lord (7-5, 7-6) and Wolstencroft (6-3, 6-3) won the next four matches to seal the win for Bowdoin.

The Polar Bears will return to action Friday against Pomona-Pitzer.
