Box Score

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College baseball team jumped to an 11-1 lead and held off a furious rally to take a 12-11 win over Trinity on Friday afternoon.

Bowdoin picks up its fourth straight win to improve to 15-8 overall and 3-1 in the league, while Trinity drops their first in 12 games to slip to 19-6 overall, and 6-1 in the NESCAC.

The Polar Bears surged to an 11-1 lead, highlighted by a seven-run fifth inning in which Bowdoin picked up five hits and took advantage of two Bantam miscues. Aaron Rose, Tim McGarry and John Lefeber all delivered RBI hits in the frame. Trinity rallied to close the gap to 12-10 entering the bottom of the ninth. Ian Edwards permitted a solo home run to Kevin Mortimer but struck out the side to preserve the win.

Freshman Aaron Rosen also recorded three hits for the Polar Bears, and stole a base in the game. Bowdoin sophomore Christian Martin struck out six in 5.2 innings of work, allowing four earned runs to improve to 4-1 on the season.
