Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bowdoin College baseball team split a doubleheader with Ramapo on Friday to close out its spring trip to Florida.
The Polar Bears won the opener 4-3 before falling in extra innings in the second game 5-4. Bowdoin will return to Maine with a 10-6 overall record.
Christian Martin pitched a gem allowing only three hits with six strike outs and only two walks. Ian Edwards earned his fourth save of the trip, and 11th of his career, with two strikeouts in the seventh to clinch the win. Edwards' 11 career saves tie him for first all-time in Bowdoin history, with Joe Kelly '86. Dan Findley led the Bowdoin attack with two hits, a triple, single and RBI.
The Polar Bears lost a heartbreaker in extra frames in game two, 5-4. Tim McGarry went 3-4 with a single, double and triple, two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base. Findley went 2-4 with two singles and RBI. Aaron Rosen also had two hits and a stolen base for the Polar Bears. Oliver Van Zant took a no-decision with 5.2 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out 11.
Bowdoin will return to the diamond on Saturday, March 31 when they host Wesleyan at noon.
