AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Bowdoin College baseball team received a pair of sparkling pitching performances to take a season-opening doubleheader sweep over Endicott on Monday. The Polar Bears took game one by a 3-1 score before taking a 3-0 win in game two.

Christian Martin (1-0) tossed six innings of four-hit ball, allowing no earned runs and striking out six to earn the win in the opener. Ian Edwards recorded a perfect ninth with two strikeouts to earn the save. Not to be outdone, Oliver Van Zant (1-0) threw a one-hitter in game two, striking out seven to earn the shutout victory. For the day, Bowdoin pitchers struck out 15 batters, allowing five hits and no earned runs over 14 innings.

The road team in game one, Bowdoin scored twice in the top of the seventh to take the win. Jordan Edgett laced bases-loaded RBI single and was followed by a run-scoring groundout by Danny Findley to give the Polar Bears the lead. Findley finished the game with two hits and two RBI's.

The Polar Bears scored a single run in three different innings to support Van Zant in the nightcap. Matt Savard ripped a run-scoring double in the second, Edgett came around to score on an error in the fourth and John Lefeber plated Erik Jacobsen with a double in the fifth inning to give Bowdoin all the scoring they would need. Endicott's lone hit came on a single in the third inning.
