MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's swimming and diving team shattered several school records en route to a program-best sixth place finish at the 2012 New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship meet this weekend at Wesleyan University.
The Polar Bears broke a dozen school records in all, creating new marks in seven individual events and five relays. Of the seven individual records, Kelsey Goodwin accounted for three of the new records as Bowdoin earned its highest finish in the 12-year history of the NESCAC Championship.
Goodwin set new marks in the 50 fly (26.54), 100 fly (58.15) and 200 fly (2:08.92) while Teri Faller set two new records in the 50 backstroke (27.06) and 100 backstroke (58.29). Allen Garner set two new marks in the 200 individual medley (2:06.58) and 200 freestyle (1:53.43) while Katherine Foley broke the 500 freestyle record (5:05.80). Bowdoin created new relay records in the 200 freestyle, 400 medley, 200 medley, 800 freestyle and 400 freestyle events (see participants below).
The top finishers in competition for Bowdoin over the weekend came from Allen Garner, who took second in the 200 IM and Teri Faller, who finished third in the 50 backstroke.
