WATERVILLE, Maine - Five Polar Bears scored in double digits, led by 22 from Will Hanley, in a 94-83 victory by the Bowdoin College men's basketball team over Thomas on Tuesday evening.

In addition to his team-high 22 points, Hanley became the first Bowdoin player in 25 years to record 20 rebounds in a game, which was last achieved by Joe Williams '88 against Babson in 1986-87. He is the eighth Bowdoin player to have 20 rebounds in a single game in school history.

Hanley got plenty of support from a balanced Bowdoin attack that included 15 points from Andrew Madlinger, 14 apiece from Bryan Hurley and Ryan O'Connell and 12 off the bench from Wyatt Littles. Littles and the Bowdoin bench held a 21-9 advantage in points over the Thomas subs, proving to be a key difference in the contest. Thomas had four players in double figures, led by a game-high 25 points from Jarrad DeVaughn.

The Polar Bears held the lead for most of the opening half until a late Terrier run trimmed their lead to 34-33 at halftime. Thomas took its first lead of the game on the first possession of the second half as the teams traded buckets in the early part of the period until a 10-2 Bowdoin surge, keyed by three-pointers from O'Connell and Hurley, gave the visitors the lead for good. Bowdoin pushed their lead to as many as 15 points in the second half on their way to the win.

The Polar Bears dominated on the glass, holding a massive 54-27 edge in rebounds and scoring 13 important second-chance points. The Terriers were able to stay within shouting distance thanks to 24 points off of 16 Bowdoin turnovers in the game.

Bowdoin will return to action on Friday night when they travel to top-ranked Middlebury at 8:00 p.m.
