WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Bowdoin College baseball team returned to action Saturday and extended their winning streak to six with a pair of wins over Edgewood and Ramapo. The Polar Bears defeated Edgewood 6-2 and downed Ramapo 6-4 to improve to 6-1 overall this spring.
Bowdoin rallied late to defeat Edgewood, with Joe Comozio rapping a lead-off double in the ninth to spark the winning rally. Matt Ruane batted 3-4 with two singles, a double, two runs and RBI. Jordan Edgett was 2-5 with a single and double. He also crossed the plate once and batted in Kyle Leblanc in the 7th. Drew Lorusso earned the victory in relief for the Polar Bears.
Against Ramapo, first-year Jay Loughlin earned his first career win in relief, striking out four while only allowing a single run. Ruane continued his hot hitting by going 3-5 with two singles and a double. Ruane also crossed the plate twice. Dan Findley was 2-4 with two singles, two RBI and two runs.
The Polar Bears will take on Allegheny in a doubleheader beginning at noon. Bowdoin was originally scheduled to play a doubleheader against Worcester State on Saturday that was canceled.
