Men's Swimming and Diving Beat Bates, Women Fall to Bobcats

LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned a split decision in a dual meet at Bates on Saturday. The men's team defeated the Bobcats 185-113 while the women fell to Bates 193-107.

The Bowdoin men had several multiple winners including Ryan Peabody (1000 freestyle, 10:17.27 and 400 IM, 4:26.24), Basyl Stuyvesant (100 backstroke, 53.55 and 200 backstroke, 1:57.61), Zach Perez (100 breaststroke, 1:03.72 and 200 breaststroke, 2:22.09) and Nathan Mecray (50 freestyle, 21.43 and 100 freestyle, 48.45).  Linc Rhodes (200 freestyle, 1:47.67) and Mac Routh (100 butterfly, 53.93) also earned individual wins as the Polar Bears also claimed the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (Stuyvesant, Mecray, Routh, Rhodes, 3:15.22) and 200 Medley Relay (Stuyvesant, Perez, Routh, Mecray, 1:37.53).

Allen Garner (100 backstroke, 1:02.05 and 200 backstroke, 2:14.54) won a pair of events in the women's meet for Bowdoin. Allison Palmer (50 freestyle, 25.06) also collected a victory for the Polar Bears.

Bowdoin will return to action against the University of Maine-Orono next Saturday.
