INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Bowdoin men's and women's swimming and diving teams came home from the 2026 NCAA National Championship with multiple All-American competitors.
In all, Bowdoin had a pair of relays earn All-American and two individual performances land in the top-16.
Raphael Grand'Pierre broke a pair of school records at the meet and the 400 freestyle relay did, as well. The men finished 21
st overall. The women collected 36
th in the country.
Meet Highlights
- Harper Stevenson swam the 500 freestyle to open nationals on Wednesday for the Polar Bears. Elizabeth Walsh and Sydney Lillis both swam in the 200 IM on day one.
- Jack Tran finished in a two-way tie for 25th in the 50 freestyle qualifier. Tran, Henry Peters, Grand'Pierre, and Getchell Gibbons swam in the 400 medley relay to close out day one.
- Bowdoin's results improved on Thursday. Grand'Pierre was spot on for his 100 butterfly seed time of 48.51. Stevenson tied for 28th in the same event, lowering her seed time to 56.13. Walsh swam in the qualifiers for the 400 IM.
- In the men's 200 freestyle relay, Bowdoin qualified for finals and improved one spot to finish ninth in the nation. Grand'Pierre, Micah Sher, Peters, and Tran became second team All-Americans with a 1:20.03 and Grand'Pierre set a new school record in the 50 free with his leadoff time of 20.18.
- Stevenson competed in a swim-off in the 200 butterfly on Friday to earn a spot in the evening finals. Stevenson came away with 11th overall and All-American honors with a 2:02.43.
- Tran competed in the 100 backstroke and came away with a top-20 performance.
- Bowdoin's 200 medley relay swam on Friday morning, comprised of Tran, Peters, Sher, and Grand'Pierre.
- On the final day of competition, Bowdoin swimmers picked up more All-American accolades. Grand'Pierre swam a 44.19 in the consolation finals to finish 12th nationally in the 100 free. Tran swam in the event's qualifiers earlier in the morning.
- Walsh concluded her Bowdoin career in the 200 breaststroke qualifiers on Saturday morning.
- Bowdoin capped the meet with second team All-American honors in the men's 400 freestyle. Gibbons, Sher, Grand'Pierre, and Tran put down a blistering 2:57.92 to win the consolation finals. Grand'Pierre broke another program record in the process, swimming the first 100 in 44.03. The quartet rewrote the record book with their combined time.
