Allen Garner

Allen Garner returns to Bowdoin after two years teaching and coaching at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut. Throughout her career at Bowdoin Allen worked toward her goals in the pool and as a Classics major took advantage of every academic opportunity - she lived the offer of the college. As a senior captain in in 2012 Allen put it all together to qualify for the NCAA championships and set three school records.. Before Bowdoin Allen attended Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia where she contributed a great deal in the pool but maybe more through her leadership as a three year captain of the team.

“I am thrilled to be back in a program that taught me so much.  Brad's approach to training and racing greatly resonated with me as a swimmer and has largely influenced my own approach to coaching.  The program’s emphasis on quality and efficiency creates a space for constant feedback and improvement, and lends itself to faster, and hopefully more enjoyable, swimming.  For the past two years, I had the opportunity to explore how coaching, teaching, and learning intersects.  I am incredibly excited and grateful now to be able to pursue this passion full-time under one of the best coaches I know.”
