WALTHAM, Mass. - The Bowdoin College baseball team fell to
Brandeis in their highest-scoring game since 2007, 17-15, on a
cold, rainy and windswept Stern Diamond on Wednesday afternoon. The
Judges rallied from a seven-run deficit in the eighth inning to
improve to 11-21 this season. Bowdoin, ranked seventh in New
England, drops to 21-11.
The contest featured the teams batting around in three different
innings, with Brandeis putting up a five spot in the bottom of the
third and Bowdoin scoring six in the top of the eighth before the
Judges had their decisive nine-run bottom of the eighth in which 12
batters stepped to the plate.
For Bowdoin, the top hitters were Brett Gorman, who finished
4-for-6 with a game-high five RBI, two runs scored, a home run and
a double, and Jordan Edgett, who was 4-for-5 with three RBI. Reid
Auger went 3-6 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI.
Brandeis' Jon Chu led all players with five hits, including two
doubles, four runs and three RBI. Eric Chenelle suffered the loss
on the hill, falling to 1-1 on the season. Andrew Weissenberg
earned the win for the Judges.
Brandeis is back in action tomorrow at Keene State College at 3:30
p.m., while Bowdoin hosts CBB rival Bates Friday at 3 p.m. to kick
off a key three-game NESCAC East series.
